Frequently asked questions
- Why do free links expire after 30 days?
- It's a cost + abuse-prevention tradeoff. The DB row lives forever, but if we never expired anonymous links the table would fill with shorteners-for-spam links. 30 days covers the vast majority of legitimate marketing use cases (a campaign, a podcast cycle, an Instagram bio swap). For anything that needs to stick around, upgrade to Pro.
- Are free links rate-limited?
- Yes — 10 links per IP per 24 hours. Pro users have no limit. If you hit the limit and need more, sign up + upgrade ($49 one-time, unlocks all Pro features across all our tools).
- Can I get a custom slug like go.topdollarmarketing.com/launch?
- Pro tier only. Custom slugs are 3–32 chars, letters / numbers / dashes / underscores. We reserve some words (api, dashboard, admin, etc.) so you can't break the rest of the site, but otherwise you pick anything that isn't taken.
- Do you track who clicks?
- We log the click but never the clicker. IP addresses and User-Agent strings are SHA-256 hashed with a daily-rotating salt before storage, so we can't re-link clicks to individuals. Per GDPR + CCPA we treat the analytics data as anonymized aggregate, not personal data.
- Can I edit the destination of a Pro link after creating it?
- Yes — open the link in /dashboard, click Edit destination, paste the new URL. The short URL stays the same; only where it points changes. Same flow as editing a dynamic QR code's destination, because internally it IS the same thing.
- What happens to my Pro links if I cancel?
- They keep working. Documents Pro is one-time, not a subscription, so there's nothing to cancel. The links you create as Pro never expire even if we change pricing later.
